LYLE O. ETTER
DUPONT- Lyle O. Etter, 73, of Dupont, died 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  He was born May 3, 1940 in Dupont to Howard "Red" and Anna Mary (Shafer) Etter.  His father is deceased. His mother survives in Kalida.  On January 9, 1966, he married Phyllis Keeran who survives in Dupont.
Lyle is also survived by 2 children: Brad (Laura) Etter of Van Wert and Shelly (Matt) Neuman of New Knoxville; a brother: Jack (Caroline) Etter of Continental; 2 sisters: Shirley (John) Mansfield and Jean (Don) McKibben both of Continental; 6 grandchildren: Katie, Nick, Michael and Allie Etter; Hannah and Nate Neuman.   He was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law: Gloria and Keith Jones.
Lyle retired as manager of Dupont Service Co. He was the maintenance supervisor for Perry Township, a Perry Township Trustee and a part-time employee for Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Homes.  He was a former member of the Continental EMS and a member of Continental Lion's Club and Continental American Legion Post #541. Lyle was a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam war. He was a devoted member of Dupont Church of the Brethren where he was a Deacon and very involved in Gideon's and jail ministry.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013 at The Dupont Church of the Brethren with Rev. Terry Porter officiating and military rites by the Continental American Legion.  Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Fairview Cemetery, Dupont.
