Margaret Mary (Karl) Gillette

OTTAWA – Margaret Mary (Karl) Gillette, 88, of Ottawa, passed away at 11:38 a.m., Thursday, June 6, 2024, at The Meadows of Ottawa surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 29, 1936, in Ottawa to the late Joseph and Mary (Romer) Karl.

Survivors include five children: Franklin (Deb) Gillette of Beaverdam, Gary (Terry) Gillette of Michigan, David (Pam) Gillette, Barbara (Jeffery) Shurelds and Thomas (Trisha) Gillette, all of Ottawa; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Maxine Karl and Eloise Karl; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Salsburey.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Bob Gillette; and five siblings: Rose Ann (Urban) Boecker, Joseph Karl, Jr., Robert Karl, Mary Barb Klausing and Catherine Salsburey.

Margaret worked for Sylvania, Ottawa. After retirement, her joy was taking care of the elderly as their personal home health care giver.  She enjoyed crocheting, reading, listening to her O-G Titans and OSU Buckeyes, and watching NASCAR, especially #6 Brad Keselowski. Margaret loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will begin 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
