At age 16 she entered the Ursuline Convent in Toledo. She taught at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Toledo, St. John’s Parish in Point Place and St. Joseph’s Parish in Tiffin under the name of Sr. Mary Philomena.

She was active in Ottoville Immaculate Conception Parish and as a high school CCD teacher, a Bible School teacher and a participant in Bible study sessions. She was a Lector for many years as well.
After John’s death in 2010 she moved to Uniontown, OH in 2012 to be near her daughter’s family. At the time of her death, she still resided in Uniontown (Green).
