Maria K. Kidd
OTTAWA - Maria K. Kidd, of Ottawa returned to the arms of the Lord at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday July 9, 2013 at The Meadows at Putnam Acres, Ottawa following a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 79. She was born April 27, 1934 in Karlstadt, Germany to the late Anton and Lena (Weiglein) Forster. She came to the United States in early 1955, where she met Otto Vennekotter of Continental and they were married on November 23, 1955. Otto preceded her in death on May 21, 1992. On July 5, 1997 she married Charles Kidd, M.D. who survives in Ottawa.
She is also survived by 2 sons: Michael (Debbie) Vennekotter of Republic, MO. and Donald (Mary McLean) Vennekotter, M.D. of Jasper, IN.; 2 daughters: Lisa (Mark) Rippetoe of Continental and Kathleen (Michael) Vennekotter-Busch, MD of Hilliard; 12 grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; a brother: Willie Forster of Miller City; 4 step children: Kathleen (Kenneth) Ruszkowski of Williamsburg, VA., Daniel (Sandra) Kidd of Houston, TX., Kevin (Kathleen) Kidd of Lima, and Patrick (Mary Ann) Kidd of Lima. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Susan Vennekotter and a step son: Charles Kidd, Jr.
Maria was a former member of St. Isidore Catholic Church in Cuba and was currently a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ottawa. She loved to travel, cook, and do gardening but her most joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in St. Isidore Cemetery, Cuba. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a scripture service at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Putnam County Council on Aging.
