Maria T. Rodriguez

GILBOA – Maria T. Rodriguez, 78, of Gilboa, passed away at 3:42 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2026, at her residence. She was born September 2, 1947, in Edinburg, TX to the late Mercedes Torres and Fidela (Barrientes) Escamilla. On November 15, 1964, she married Ruperto G. "Beto" Rodriguez. He preceded her in death on November 14, 2021.

Survivors include 7 children: Ruperto (Mary) Rodriguez, Rolando Rodriguez, Raul (Mary) Rodriguez, Mary Ann Rodriguez, Rene (Tammi) Rodriguez, Brenda (Ricardo) Rodriguez, and Fidela (Lia) Rodriguez; 25 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and 8 siblings: Gilbert Torres, Mercede Torres, Sandra Palacios, Minerva Martinez, John Escamilla, Martin Escamilla, Robert Escamilla and Hector Escamilla.

She was also preceded in death by an infant son: Ruben Rodriguez; a grandson: David Rodriguez; 2 great-granddaughters: Maya Schroeder and Nyla Rodriguez; a great-grandson: Aden Sanchez; and a sister, San Juanita Lugo.

Maria retired from Consolidated Biscuit, McComb. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic. Maria was known for her cooking and loved playing bingo/loteria.

Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, 916 East Main St., Ottawa with Refugio Lugo officiating. Burial will follow in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
