Marian K. Verhoff

KALIDA  - Marian K. Verhoff, 85, of Kalida, passed away at 6:01 a.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at The Meadows of Kalida.  She was born February 19, 1938, in Lima to the late Edwin and Alvera (Recker) Schwertner.  On November 14, 1959, she married Louis A. Verhoff. He preceded her in death on December 15, 2018.

Marian is survived by three sons: Steve (Barbara) Verhoff, Gary (Brenda) Verhoff, and Tim (Alexis) Verhoff, all of Kalida; one daughter, Sharon (Todd) Thobe of Plain City, Ohio; fifteen grandchildren, Tracey (Jeremy) Culp, Melissa (Justin) Barnhart, Joshua (Urai) Verhoff, Travis (Suzhen) Wilhelm, Lauren (Jacob) Dall, Stephanie (Matthew) Karhoff, Jeremy (Sarah) Verhoff, Morgan Thobe, Shelly Verhoff, Kimberly Verhoff, Noah Verhoff, Alex Verhoff, Ryan Verhoff, Grace Verhoff, and Olivia Verhoff; eleven great-grandchildren, Austin and Ronald Culp, Natalie, Lela, Rory and Leroy Barnhart, Jackson and Clayton Dall, Henry and Madison Karhoff, Kylee Verhoff and one on the way; and two sisters: Doris (Bob) Rehmert of Kettering and Joyce Atkinson of Highland Village, TX.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers-in-law: Milt Atkinson and Jim Denny.

Marian earned a registered nurse diploma from St. Rita's School of Nursing. She later became a homemaker raising her four children and helping run the family farm with her husband. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida and its Altar Rosary Society.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bingo. Above all, Marian loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 2 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday and 9 – 10 a.m. on Wednesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.
