OTTOVILLE - Marie Theresa (Weber) Lubeley, 87, of Ottoville died at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born on September 27, 1934 in Ottoville, Ohio to the late Ludwig "Louie" and Mayne (Bedink) Weber. On July 25, 1974, she married George J. Lubeley who preceded her in death in 2015.
Marie was a graduate of Precious Blood High School in Dayton, Ohio. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition from the University of Dayton and a Master's Degree in Public Health from the University of Michigan. She completed a Dietetic Internship at St. Mary's Hospital and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She was a Registered Dietician.
Marie Lubeley retired from USDA after approximately 24 years as a nutritionist. In this capacity, she served all of the Federal Food Assistance programs for the nation. She was a federal employee in Washington D.C. Marie spent 27 years in religious life with the community of the Sisters of the Precious Blood in Dayton, Ohio. She directed quality food service for institutions and nursing homes. As a master of public health, she worked in Appalachia, setting up infant and preschool nutrition programs named KIPP. In retirement, she worked with the Ohio Department of Education and the NFSMI of the University of Mississippi on training school food service clientele. She was a substitute teacher for local schools in Ottoville and Ft. Jennings. She was a volunteer with the Putnam County Red Cross Disaster Team and the Putnam County Hospice Program.
Marie was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, long-term member of the liturgy committee and was a leader in the parish prayer line. Several years were spent in visiting the homebound of the parish as well as a leader for adult education. She treasured her membership as a Companion of the Precious Blood and the Amici Organization.
Survivors include one brother, James (Arlene) Weber of Gilbert, Arizona; in-laws: Grace Weber of Wyandotte, MI and Marilyn Weber of Ottawa; a brother-in-law, Virgil (Nancy) Hohlbein of Ottoville. A special niece, Renee Kelch and her family; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jo Ann Hohlbein and brothers: Stanley Weber, John (Patsy) Weber, Louie ( Ruth) Weber, Thomas Weber; and the St. Louis family members: Rev. Msgr Richard Lubeley, Joane Ahrens, Elizabeth Kuntz, Tony (Mary) Demarinis, Tony Ahrens and Cyl Kuntz.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Fr. Jerry Schetter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2022 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Twp. with a scripture service beginning at 4 p.m.. Additional visitation will be 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2022 at the church prior to Mass.
