Marilyn J. Franz

NORTH CREEK - Marilyn J. Franz, 85, passed away 6:24 p.m. on June 19, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family and friends. Marilyn was born March 4, 1933 in Putnam County to the late George and Mabel (Dillion) Cain. On February 7, 1953 she married Samuel Franz, who preceded her in death on February 19, 1983. Marilyn had a loving companion of 33 years, Dewey Scheiman, who preceded her in death on November 21, 2017.

She is survived by a daughter, Vicki (Greg) Lopez of North Creek; a sister- in-law, Vera Franz of Ottawa; Dewey's daughters, Julie (Scott) Washburn of Fort Wayne and Amy (Daniel) Biedess of New Haven; and a special little guy that called her Mimi, Preston Schneider of Ottawa. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Vorst and Doris Priest.

Marilyn graduated from Leipsic High School; was a member of the North Creek United Methodist Church; the North Creek United Methodist Women; and a 50 year member of Continental Chapter of Eastern Stars. She retired from Philips in 1998. Marilyn loved camping at Lake Pleasant, Manapogo Park, mowing, and planting flowers. She loved cooking and everyone loved her fried chicken.

Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2018 at North Creek United Methodist Church, 18564 Road B-13, Continental. Pastor Rick Noggle and Vicki Lopez will be officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and one hour prior to the service on Saturday  at  the church.

Preferred memorials are to the North Creek United Methodist Church or to Putnam County Hospice.
