DUPONT - Marilyn Rentschler, 82, of Dupont, passed away 2:21 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Hospital, Lima. She was born August 2, 1939 in Burnettsville, Indiana, the daughter of Alvin and Wilmira (Dewitt) Fry. On April 19, 1958 in her parents' home north of Burnettsville she married Robert Helvie, they were married for almost 30 years and then divorced. On February 14, 1997, she married Phillip J. Rentschler, and he preceded her in death on May 27, 2015.
Marilyn or Joyce as her family and friends called her, graduated from Burnettsville High School on May 9, 1957. She devoted time to her family and her church. In her later years she worked at T. M. Morris for over 20 years and was known for her careful work. She was a devoted and generous mother and grandmother.
Survivors include, first husband: Robert J. Helvie, Valparaiso, IN., son: Michael Helvie and wife Cindy of Kathmandu, Nepal, daughter: Marilyn and husband: Howard Shepard of Dupont, Ohio. Stepchildren: Cynthia and husband Greg Pownell, Logansport, Karen and husband Barry Capper, Plymouth. Grandchildren: Eric and wife Megan Helvie, New York, Melody and husband Jared Rensberger, Pasadena, CA., Jonathan and Zachary Shepard, Dupont, Deborah and husband Trevor Moats, Cloverdale; step-grandchildren: Cameron and wife Kayla Capper, Ann Arbor, MI., Blake Pownell, Logansport, and Bailey Capper, Cincinnati; sisters: Nada Rouch and Juanita Stanton.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a son: Maurice, who died as an infant; sisters: Kay and Bonnie, and a brother Alvin.
Her memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Logansport Nazarene Church, 109 W. Clinton Street, Logansport, IN with Rev. Tom Beck officiating.
