Marilyn Ann (McCullough) Young
OAKWOOD – Marilyn Ann (McCullough) Young, 92, of Oakwood, passed away at 7:40 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the Meadows of Kalida. She was born September 29, 1931, in Oakwood to the late James Sylvester and Gertrude (Wright) McCullough. On May 23, 1949, she married Charles R. Young, and he preceded her in death on November 22, 2003.
Marilyn is survived by a daughter: Denise (Greg) Scherer of Continental; six grandchildren: Jamison (Sara) Young, of Highlands Ranch, CO, Christopher Davis of Continental, Laura Young of Defiance, Joshua Young of Continental, Steven (Kelsey) Scherer of Everett, WA, Jennifer (Tim) Trudell of Kingsley, MI; seven great-grandchildren: Emma and Taylor Young, Ashley Davis, Madison Young, Paige Ames, Sydney Stepke, Sophia Trudell; one great-great-grandchild: Nolan Ames; and a brother: Roger McCullough of Ft. Myers, FL.
She is preceded in death by a son, Gary Young; a daughter, Susan Davis; two grandchildren, Amy Young Stepke, and Zachariah Merritt; a sister, Pauline Weisenburger; and two brothers, Wayne McCullough and Keith McCullough.
Marilyn worked as a bookkeeper at Coopers of Oakwood, Gymmy Truck, and she had also been the Oakwood Town Clerk. She loved playing games, knitting, crocheting, and going to craft shows. Marilyn was a member of the Dupont Church of the Brethren.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Dupont Church of the Brethren with Pastor Solomon Okang officiating. Burial will follow at Sherman Cemetery, Oakwood. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and again on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Hospice.
