Marilyn Pier

OAKWOOD – Marilyn Pier, 86, of Oakwood, passed away at 9:25 p.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Defiance Inpatient Hospice. She was born September 3, 1939, in Cloverdale to the late Andrew and Mary (Matson) Ladd. On April 18, 1959, she married her loving husband of 66 years, Carroll Pier and he survives in Oakwood.

Other survivors include her three children: Tom (Oneda) Pier, Carol (Tim) Roberts and Ed (Melissa) Pier, all of Oakwood; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; four siblings: Edna Halter, Sue (Jerry) Wagner, Margaret Strayer and Connie Brown; a sister-in-law, Barb Ladd; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by seven siblings: Dick (Becky) Ladd, Paul Ladd, Bill (Norma) Ladd, Alice (Jim) Evans, Elizabeth (Pat) Basinger, Helen Scott and Norma Swartz; and three brothers-in-law: Leroy Halter, Gale Strayer and Wesley Brown.

Marilyn was a homemaker and had various odd jobs. She was a loving mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marilyn enjoyed cooking for her family and loved them above all else.
