Marilyn "Marnie" Ebbesmier

OTTAWA - Marilyn "Marnie" Ebbesmier, 86, of Ottawa, died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the Meadows of Ottawa. She was born June 17, 1934 in Burlington, IA to the late Fred and Rosalie (Cogan) Roxlau. On September 19, 1953, she married William "Shorty" Ebbesmier who preceded her in death on May 16, 2019.

Marnie is survived by five children: William S. Ebbesmier of Boulder, CO, Laura Dunno of Ft. Wayne, IN, Sue (Dave "Guido") Schroeder of Leipsic, Rhonda Wolke of Ottawa and Kristine (Mark) Hungate of Lakewood Ranch, FL; 10 grandchildren: Brian Martin, Scott Martin, Nicholle (John) Grose, Whitney (Kevin) Niese, Jenna (Jerred) Recker, Emily Wolke, Drew Wolke, Zachary Hungate, Coley Hungate; 10 great-grandchildren, Hannah and Maximillion Martin, Avery Martin, John, Victoria, and Natalie Grose, Harper and Bentley Schroeder, and Porter and Hadley Niese; granddaughter-in-law: Jennifer Schroeder;  and two sisters: Barb (Larry) Rohlena of Anamosa, IA and Jean Bendorf of Millington, TN.

She is also preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Schroeder; a son-in-law, Gary Dunno;  two sisters: Phyllis Franklin and Shirley Clark; and a brother, Donnie Roxlau.

Marnie was a Real Estate Broker with Berty Schwartz Real Estate Company until she was 80 years old. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and the American Legion Auxiliary, Ottawa. Marnie and Shorty were founding members of the Dance Club at the American Legion where many fond memories were made and shared.  Marnie was also on the board of the YMCA and Habitat for Humanity, Putnam County and she was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was a very talented artist and enjoyed many mediums. She loved creating ads for local businesses throughout her life and had her own greeting card line. She will be missed by all of her loved ones.

Funeral mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2021 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Father Scott Kramer officiating.  Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 - 6 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
