FORT JENNINGS – Marilyn A. Ricker, 71, of Fort Jennings, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at her residence in Spring Hill, Florida. She was the 4th of 16 children, born May 15, 1951 in Lima, to the late Cyril A. and Cecilia G. (Hohenbrink) Vorst Sr. On June 16, 1973, she married Dale E. Ricker, who survives in Fort Jennings.
Marilyn is also survived by three children: Joel (Lindsay) Ricker of Findlay, Joy (Brent) Saneholtz of Montpelier, and Jesse (Ashley) Ricker of Marysville; eleven grandchildren: Logan, Alivia, Evelyn, and Celia Ricker, Greyson, Rowen, Keaton, and Sutton Saneholtz, Liam, Colin, and Ellie Ricker; siblings: Vincent (Kathy) Vorst of Kalida, Lavern (Mary Ann) Vorst of Orange Park, FL., Wannitta (Paul) Dennis of Pickerington, Joyce Ann Vorst of Fort Mitchell, KY., John (Rosie) Vorst of Findlay, Bernice (Art) Schnipke of Ottoville, Patricia (Daniel) McConnell of Zanesville, Anthony (Sandy) Vorst of Kalida, Cyril (Phyllis) Vorst Jr. of Glandorf, Virginia (Carl) Beining of Ottoville, Cecile (Ken) Kahle of Kalida, Connie (Ken) Kruse of Columbus Grove, Mike (Deb) Vorst of Findlay, Fran (Diane) Vorst of Kalida; one sister-in-law: Elaine (Denny) Balbaugh of Ottawa.
She is preceded in death by three brothers, Michael, Norman, and Nicholas Vorst.
Marilyn was a 1969 graduate of Kalida High School; she then received a bachelor's degree in Education from BGSU in 1973. Marilyn taught elementary education for 7 years. In 1980, Marilyn began her Mary Kay Cosmetics career. In 1984 she became a sales director and over her 39 year career she received the Circle of Achievement Award numerous times. Marilyn was well known for her pink Cadillac, outgoing personality, and making you smile. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, especially at her pool in the summer. Marilyn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings, where she served as Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Distributor, Engaged Encounter Team, Liturgy planner for Friends of Hope, as well as teaching CCD.
Funeral Mass will begin 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings with Fr. Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 – 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township and Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the church.
