Mark Timothy "Tim" Michel

QUINCY, MICHIGAN – Mark Timothy "Tim" Michel, 75, of Quincy, Michigan, passed away at 12:14 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Maple Lawn Medical Facility, Coldwater, MI surrounded by his loving wife.  He was born March 29, 1948, in Lima to the late Arthur J. Michel and Mary (Siefer) Michel. On November 9, 1968, he married Jan Kortokrax, who survives in Quincy, MI. They were married for 55 years.

Tim is survived by two sons: Brian (Crystal) Michel of Roanoke, IN and Nick (Jina) Michel of Kalida; six grandchildren: Taylor Michel, Cash Michel, Grace Michel, Sophia Michel, Easton Michel and Brynleigh Michel; a brother, John C. Michel of Ft. Jennings; a sister-in-law, Becky Michel of AZ; and his beloved dog, Finn.

He was preceded in death by a son, Matt "Gumby" Michel; and a brother, Ed Michel.

Tim was a graduate of Ft. Jennings High School, attended the University of Dayton and graduated from the Northwestern Auto and Diesel program. He was in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War from 1968-69.  He worked at Clark Equipment, Sheller Globe, Lima Army Tank Plant, Lima Corrections as a Corrections Officer and retired from Oakwood Corrections. He was a volunteer fireman on the Ft. Jennings Fire Department for 25 years.  Tim was a member of the Ft. Jennings Jaycees and Lions Club.

Tim loved farming, restoring International Tractors, hunting, fishing and teaching his grandkids how to fish. Later in life he enjoyed bird watching. Above all, Tim loved spending time with his family and friends at Marble Lake.

Funeral services will begin at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 17, 2023 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Twp with Deacon David Maas officiating. Military rites will follow by the Ottoville VFW and Ft. Jennings American Legion. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
