Martha L. Erford

OTTAWA - Martha L. Erford, 93, of Ottawa died at 1:54 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at The Meadows of Ottawa. She was born July 26, 1925 in Gilboa to the late Roy and Bertha (Hazelton) Chambers. On January 20, 1945 she married Cletus Erford who died December 20, 2003.

She is survived by two children, James (Barbara) Erford of Bluffton and Donald (Yvonne) Erford of Oro Valley, AZ; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one on-the-way. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lee Beckman and a brother, Matthew Chambers.

Martha graduated from Gilboa High School and attended Crawfis College. She spent many years working as a bookkeeper and as an administrative office assistant at Allied Egri and Brecht Brothers Garage both in Leipsic. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa.

Martha and her husband, Cletus enjoyed living in Arizona for 25 years before returning to Ottawa. Many thanks to the staff at The Meadows of Ottawa for all the loving care provided over the years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a Scripture Service at 6:50 p.m.
