Martha Ann "Mart" Schroeder
OTTAWA – Martha Ann "Mart" Schroeder, 88, in Ottawa, passed away at 4:10 p.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at The Meadows of Ottawa. She was born February 22, 1935, in New Cleveland to the late Ralph and Julitta (Nuveman) Kuhlman. On June 27, 1956, in New Cleveland, she married Richard L. "Dick" Schroeder, who preceded her in death on December 31, 2022.
Survivors include three children: Nick (Sue) Schroeder of Columbus Grove, Jeff Schroeder of Ottawa and Lori (Ken) Arbogast of New Riegel; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; six brothers: Jim (Ann) Kuhlman of Ottawa, Ed Kuhlman of North Baltimore, Norm (Jean) Kuhlman of Leipsic, Duane (Irene) Kuhlman of Miller City, Mike (Jan) Kuhlman of Ottawa and Randy (Brenda) Kuhlman of Leipsic; four sisters-in-law, JoAnn Kuhlman of Glandorf, Janice Muncy of Defiance, Ida "Rose" Schroeder of Swanton and Chris Schroeder of Ottawa; and a brother-in-law, John Schroeder of Arlington, TX.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers: Frank Kuhlman and Nick Kuhlman; a sister, Marge Rieman; three sisters-in-law: Shirley Kuhlman, Betty Gilligan and Diane Twelliger; half sister-in-law, Norma Meyers; and three brothers-in-law: Chuck Schroeder, Ron Schroeder and Jim Rieman.
Mart was a 1953 graduate of Miller City High School. After high school, she worked for five years at Allied Egri in Leipsic. She had also worked as a babysitter and cleaned houses in Ottawa. Mart was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and C. L. of C. 215 of New Cleveland. She loved baseball and her favorite professional baseball player was Al Rosen.
Funeral mass will begin at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 18, 2023, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
Memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Homecare and Hospice, Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Life Center or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
