Obituary

Martha Ann "Marty" (Rayle) Shoemaker LEIPSIC – Martha Ann "Marty" (Rayle) Shoemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, of Leipsic, Ohio died peacefully at 1:07 a.m. on December 23, 2024, one hour after her 73rd birthday. She was born on December 22, 1951, to the late Wayne and Elizabeth (Keeran) Rayle. Marty is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Kenneth Shoemaker; her two children: Sarah (Jason) Newell and Ryan (Jori) Shoemaker; her four grandchildren: Jarrett Newell, Owen Shoemaker, Kenyon Newell, and Addilyn Shoemaker; her sister, Mary Bishop; her two sisters-in-law: Karon Punches and Marlene Inkrott; her nieces and nephews: Alan Rayle, Dan Rayle, Bill Bishop, Christa Bishop, Sheila Punches, Shelly Meyer, David Punches, Brent Inkrott, J.T. Inkrott, Brock Inkrott, and Nathan Punches. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Wayne "Duff" Rayle and Dennis Rayle;  her sister-in-law, LaJean Shoemaker; and other in-laws, Jerry Inkrott and Donny Punches. Marty, a proud resident of Leipsic her entire life, was a 1970 graduate of Leipsic High School, where she and Kenny became high school sweethearts. Marty dedicated 28 years as a bank teller at the Bank of Leipsic and The Union Bank before retiring in 2011. In addition to being selfless and dedicated mother and wife, Marty held an unwavering faith in God and was a part of the First Christian Church in Leipsic, where she was a lifetime member and served as Deaconess for many years. Her favorite things to do were to go to church, cheer on her grandchildren from close and far, and to be a phenomenal cook/baker. Marty's journey has been a hard one. To her family, she is their hero and was often called Wonder Woman because of her courage and strength in facing so many health obstacles without complaining and with a selfless focus on everyone else but herself. It is with confidence that she is now at peace in the arms of her Savior. The family would like to thank the many health care providers over the years, especially Kathy Selhorst, CNP, Dr. Younes, Dr. Oostra, Dr. Cole,  the Putnam County EMS, Blanchard Valley Wound Clinic, Defiance ProMedica Wound Care Center, Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, and a special mention to Mandy Schroeder of Blanchard Valley Palliative Care. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at First Christian Church, Leipsic with Pastor Tim Eding officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church.
