Martin "Marty" Harmon ARCHBOLD – Martin "Marty" Harmon, 78, of Archbold, and formerly of Oakwood, died 5:35 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo.  He was born July 23, 1946, in Defiance to the late Martin William "Bill" and Violet (Shaffer) Harmon.  On July 17, 1971, he married Diana Tracy, who survives in Archbold. Also surviving is a son: Michael (Joanna) Harmon of Wauseon; 3 grandchildren:  Micah Harmon, Anna (Jason) Shepard and Jonah Harmon; 2 great-grandsons:  Rex and Oliver Shepard; a brother: Rev. Stan (Jane) Harmon of Oakwood and many nieces and nephews. Marty is preceded in death by a sister:  Carol Kohart. Marty attended the Auglaize Chapel Church of God, Oakwood and the Wauseon Church of God.  He was also a former president of the Payne Camp Meeting of the Church of God. He was a teacher, retiring from Paulding Exempted Village Schools, and also taught at Hicksville Exempted Village Schools and Central Local Schools.  In addition to teaching at the schools, he also coached basketball. Following his retirement he became member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association. Marty served his community in many ways. He served as a Paulding County Commissioner for 5 years and was a Brown Township Trustee for 8 years.  He served as a member of the Oakwood Community Development Corporation, and was a former officer.  He was a member of the John Paulding Historical Society and Gideons International. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Auglaize Chapel Church of God, Oakwood, with Rev. Carol Retcher officiating.  Burial will follow in Prairie Chapel Cemetery, Oakwood.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood, and again on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International or to the Payne Camp Meeting of the Church of God.
