CHOCOWINITY, NC - On February 14th Marty went to be with his bride Jean who preceded his death in March 2020. He passed away at his home in Chocowinity, North Carolina. Martin John Kloc Jr was born in Buffalo, New York on January 20, 1940 the son of Martin John and Anna Wanda Kloc.
In August of 1957, he joined the Coast Guard furthering his love of the water. He served on the Coast Guard Cutter Tupelo, breaking ice on Lake Erie. He met a beautiful nurse Alma Jean Diehl of Ottawa, Ohio. They fell in love and married on November 24, 1960.
Marty began working for the CIA and served in Okinawa, the Philippines, and Miami before settling in the Washington DC area. He retired in 1994, and then in 1998 Marty and Jean moved to Chocowinity, NC where they remained until death.
Marty loved camping, fishing and being on the water. Family and traditions were very important to him. He documented much of his life and many memorable family moments through pictures and video recordings.
Marty is survived by 4 children, Timothy Kloc of Bluffton, South Carolina, Kellie (Tommy) Cook of Chocowinity, North Carolina, David (Jackie) Kloc of Sterling, Virginia, and Jonathan (Christy) Kloc of Rossville, Georgia. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
Marty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Ottawa with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating. A rosary will be said at the church at 9:30 a.m. for those wishing to attend. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
