Marvel J. Kirkendall
CONTINENTAL - Marvel J. Kirkendall, 92, of Continental, died at 11:55 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at The Meadows of Kalida after a brief stay. She was born May 19, 1923 in Continental to the late Grover and Hazel (Sohlke) Heffley. On September 27, 1942 she married her husband of 72 years, James R. "Bud" Kirkendall who survives in Continental.
Also surviving is a daughter: Diane (Ray) Spaeth of Arlington; a son-in-law: Larry Bruce of Morenci, MI; 4 grandchildren: Kirsten (Jon) Mignin, Kirk Bruce, Alicia (John) Molina, Conner Spaeth; 6 great-grandchildren: Blake (Sarah) Raab, Brianna Raab, Cayden Mignin, Kalleigh Mignin, Anthony Molina, and Colton Molina; and a great-great-grandchild: Blaire Raab.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Sharon Bruce; 2 brothers: Paul and Forrest Heffley; and 3 sisters: Viola Hanson, Maxine Meece, and Leona Simmons.
Marvel loved her time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. She was a member of Continental United Methodist Church.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Pastor Charles Schmunk officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Continental United Methodist Church.
