Marvelle A. Niese

MILLER CITY – Marvelle A. Niese, 85, of Miller City, died 10:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at The Meadows of Ottawa.  She was born May 8, 1938 in New Bavaria to the late Paul and Elizabeth (Cunningham) Okuley. In August of 1957, she married Melvin L. "Manny" Niese. He died March 3, 2004.

Survivors include seven children: Deb (Michael) Schuerman of Ft. Jennings, Allen (Ann) Niese of Miller City, Doug (Marlene) Niese of Ottawa, Kevin (Bev) Niese of Leipsic, Michael (Ruth) Niese of Napoleon, Nicholas (Jill) Niese of New Bavaria and Jody (Andy) Chattos of New Albany; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one on the way; two siblings: Ronald (Carol) Okuley of New Bavaria and Jeanette Younker of Huber Heights; and two sisters-in-law: Jeanette Okuley of Holgate and Marlene Okuley of Ottawa.

She is also preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Niese; two brothers: Kenny and James Okuley; and a brother-in-law, Mike Younker.

Marvelle was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, sewing and gardening. Marvelle loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

The family would like to thank The Meadows of Ottawa for their excellent care of mom during her stay.

Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 18, 2023 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City with Fr. Scott Perry officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday at the church.
