Mary J. Stanton

VAN WERT – Mary J. Stanton, 80, of Van Wert, formerly of Grover Hill, passed away at 1:24 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Lima Memorial Hospital.  She was born January 29, 1942 in Paulding to the late John W. and Virginia Mae (Shellenbarger) Busch.  On April 15, 1961 she married Kenneth E. Stanton, he preceded her in death on November 14, 2008.

Mary is survived by two children: Joyce Stanton and Kent (Nikki) Stanton, both of Van Wert; one granddaughter: Kenna Stanton; and a brother: Richard (Lou Ann) Busch of Defiance.

She is also preceded in death by a son, James Eugene Stanton.

Mary was a member of Grace Bible Church, Van Wert, as well as the ladies church group, Merry Widows.  She enjoyed camping, puzzles, card games, and board games.  Mary was a Steelers fan, and she also liked Southern Gospel Music.  Mary loved spending time with her granddaughter.

Funeral service will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Grace Bible Church, Van Wert with Pastor Lance Hostetler officiating.  Burial will take place on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in Prairie Chapel Cemetery, Oakwood.  A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Van Wert Council on Aging or Grover Hill Fire Department.
