Mary Jane Michel

OTTAWA - Mary Jane Michel, 87, of Ottawa, died Thursday morning January 19, 2017 at Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf.  She was born August 27, 1929 in Ottawa to the late Manley H. and Anna Agnes (Maenle) Carnahan.  On November 8, 1947, she married Vincent J. Michel.  He died July 30, 1972.

Survivors include five children: Mary Ann (Don) Groff of Findlay, Carol (John) Foor of Defiance, David (Karen) Michel of California, Janet (Rodney) Hopkins of Ottawa and Paul (Lisa) Michel of Leipsic; 19 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; and four sisters: Betty Keeney of Ft. Wayne, IN, Patricia Moore of Defiance, Dorothy Duling of Ottawa and Barb Martin of MI.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Michel; a daughter, Ruth Broome; two brothers: Robert Carnahan and James Carnahan; and a sister, Martha Cekander.

Mary Jane was retired as a cook from Hoppy's Corner, formerly of Ottawa and Leipsic.  She enjoyed sewing.

Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Deacon Jim Rump officiating.  Visitation will be from noon until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at a later date in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Ottawa.
