COLUMBUS GROVE - Mary C. Thornton, 90, of Columbus Grove died at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 at her residence. She was born August 8, 1924 in Ottawa to the late William B. and Catherine (Krouse) Chamberlin. She had been married to Richard M. Thornton who is deceased.
She is survived by her children: Richard F. (Rebecca) Thornton of Miller City, Carol (David) Porter of Lima, and William J. Thornton of Gilboa; 6 grandchildren: Rick Thornton, Jon Thornton, Christina Woodland, Tony Dunlap, David Dunlap, and Elliot Lewis; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers: Marion, Leonard, Paul, and Richard Chamberlin and 2 sisters: Alma Halker and Audrey Hahn.
Mary retired after 20 years from Philips Display Components formerly of Ottawa. She enjoyed painting, quilting, and reading. Mary loved spending time with her family and was a great cat lover, especially her best friend, her cat, Muffy.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2015 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. Memorials may be made to Putnam County Home Health or to Putnam Pet Pals.
