Mary Catherine Konst
Ottawa-- Mary Catherine Konst, 90, of Ottawa died 3:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born February 12, 1923 in Leipsic to the late John and Amelia (Bellman) Inkrott. On August 7, 1947 she married Alvin Louis Konst, who preceded her in death on March 28, 1999.
Surviving are her 4 children: Gary (Connie) Konst of Defiance, Joyce (Patrick) Cass of Louisville, KY, Karen (Denny) Niese of Miller City and Kenneth (Donna) Konst of Ottawa; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Ralph (Edna) Inkrott and Karl (Marilyn) Inkrott, both of Leipsic; a sister: Ruth Ellerbrock of Leipsic; and a special friend: Linus Rosengarten of Leipsic. She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Thomas Ellerbrock.
Mary was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland her entire life. She was a member of its Rosary Altar Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She retired in 1988 from Kohls Market where she had been the Bakery/Deli Manager of 15 years. She enjoyed baking wedding cakes out of her home for many years. She was also a member of the Ottawa Senior Citizens Center, Polka Boosters, Golden Steppers, and Happy Shufflers. Mary enjoyed playing cards, dancing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her time volunteering at both the Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf and Putnam Acres and had been recognized at Lady of the Year by the Ottawa Knights of Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland with Fr. Stephen Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a scripture service will be held at 2 p.m. and a CL of C rosary at 7:30 pm Sunday.
