Glandorf -- Mary Jane Leopold, 87, of Glandorf died 10:00 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2015 at the Meadows of Ottawa. She was born April 7, 1928 in Columbus Grove to the late Clement and Martha (Utendorf) Stechschulte. She is also preceded in death by her step-father: George L. Hoffman. On August 23, 1950 she married Thomas V. Leopold, who died January 31, 2004.
Jane is survived by her children: Barbara (Thomas) Wank of New Bavaria, Annette (Steve) McKee of Glandorf, Steven (Deb) Leopold of Glandorf, Marti (Mark) Ellerbrock of Ottawa, Daniel (Tonnie) Leopold of Glandorf and Thomas (Carrie) Leopold of Glandorf; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren with 4 more on the way; a sister: Kathleen (Elmer) Langhals of Columbus Grove; a brother; Ken (Cheryl) Hoffman of Deshler; and 2 sisters-in-law: Margie Hoffman of Glandorf and Eileen Drerup of Ottawa.
She is preceded in death by 2 grandchildren Caroline and Nathan Wank; 2 sisters: Audrey Fox and Patricia A. Schroeder; a brother: George B. Hoffman and 2 brothers-in-law: Elmer Schroeder and Bill Fox.
Jane was a homemaker and a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Glandorf and its Altar Rosary Society. She was an honorary member of the Glandorf Fire Ladies Association. Her heart was with her family, she never missed a family birthday, all the way down to the great-grandchildren. She loved to spend her time gardening, was an accomplished seamstress, and was known for making blue jean rugs. No matter where she was, it was important to Jane that everyone felt welcome and comfortable.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, with Father Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, where a scripture service will be held 1:45 p.m. and a Fire Ladies' service will be at 7 p.m. and a joint Parish and Altar Rosary Society Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the St. John's Capital Campaign.
