LEIPSIC - Mary Catherine "Kate" Schroeder, 88, of Leipsic, passed away from this life to her life with Christ at 11:05 a.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay due to complications from COVID.

Kate was born on August 14, 1932 to the late Bernard and Regina (Wolke) Fenbert.  On April 15, 1953, she married her life-long dancing partner, Justin G. "Jud" Schroeder who died on November 16, 2014.  Together for 61 years, they built a life together and raised their family.

Surviving are seven children: Beverly (Keith) Dewar of Leipsic, Rebecca (Steve) Schnipke of Ottawa, Keith (Nancy) Schroeder of Payne, Barbara (John) Beining of Ottawa, Philip "Flip" (Natalie) Schroeder of Findlay, J. Bruce (Teresa) Schroeder of Leipsic, J. Bradley (Jill) Schroeder of Leipsic, and a daughter-in-law, Jean (Gary) Nienberg of Ottawa.  Kate was a very proud grandmother to 30 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Kate is also survived by a brother, Norbert (Rosalie) Fenbert of Wheelersburg, a sister,  Juanita (Charlie) Westrick of Pandora, a sister, Judy (Rick) Miller of Hartland, Michigan, and a sister-in-law, Edith Schroeder of Leipsic.

Kate was preceded in death by 4 sons: Frederick, Matthew, Gregory and Timothy, one brother, Richard and one sister, Mildred.

Everyone who came into contact with Kate was made to feel as though they were the most important person in her world.  She loved her family and was the consummate hostess when anyone came to visit.  Momma's hands were always busy, from the many crocheted afghans, to her paintings to the many cookies she kept on hand in the freezer.  In addition to her family, she loved sending text messages on her iPhone and reading her Kindle.

Due to COVID, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.
