Mary C. Meyer
LEIPSIC – Mary C. Meyer, 90, of Leipsic died peacefully surrounded by family at 6:15 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012 at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa. She was born February 5, 1922 in New Cleveland to the late Edward and Philomena (Inkrott) Knueven. On October 25, 1941, she married Cletus Meyer and he died August 18, 1992. Surviving are 9 children: Thomas C. (Christine) Meyer of Chapel Hill, NC, Eugene E. (Mariella) Meyer of Findlay, Karl U. (Brenda) Meyer of Ottawa, Steven L. (Karen) Meyer of Parsons, KS, Lou Ann (James) Noone of Leipsic, Kathleen (Mark) Amstutz of Pandora, Therese (Mark) Meyer of Jenera, David J. (Theresa) Meyer of Leipsic, Jane (Bruce) Combs of Perrysburg; a son-in-law: Marc Banachowski of Perrysburg; 36 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and a sister-in-law: Gertrude Knueven. She was preceded in death by 2 daughters: Janice Meyer and Elaine Banachowski and 4 brothers: Urban, Louis, Leonard and Thomas Knueven.
Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic and its Altar Rosary Society where she had been president. She was a member of the National Farmers Organization; volunteered at Putnam Acres Care Center and had been a CCD Teacher at St. Mary's. She enjoyed gardening, canning, square dancing and traveling especially to visit family. Mary was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and her family was the center of her life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic where there will be an Altar Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Parish Building on Generations of Service or Putnam County Hospice or Putnam Acres Care Center.
