Mary Janice Hornish
OAKWOOD - Mary Janice Hornish, 92, of Tampa, FL., formerly of Oakwood passed away at 12:57 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Brighton Gardens of Tampa Florida. She was born October 27, 1921 in Mt. Blanchard to the late Kelly and Melva (Weible) Rickner. After graduating from High School she married Richard Hornish in 1939 and he died June 4, 2011.
She is survived by 2 children: Greg (Sue) Hornish of Delray Beach, FL., and Beth Andersen of Tampa, FL.; 4 grandchildren: and 5 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Rex and Art Rickner.
Mary was a homemaker. She was active in her church, working 18 years with the Crusader Class in Oakwood and worked 10 years in many states with RVICS - Roving Volunteers in Christ's Service - helping others.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2014 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood with Dr. Blake Neff officiating. Burial will follow in Sherman Cemetery, Oakwood. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Gideon Bibles.
