Mary F. Mays

CONTINENTAL – Mary F. Mays, 83, of Continental died 12:50 a.m., March 22, 2023 at Brookview Health Care Center, Defiance.  She was born January 15, 1940 in Henry County to the late Elmer F. and Doris (Corkwell) Schwartzengraber.  She married James Corbin Mays, and he died May 5, 2006.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Bailey; a son, Marvin Mays; two grandchildren: Desmond Shepherd and Alisha Shepherd; three great-grandchildren; and siblings: James Schwartzengraber, Katheryn Brinkman, Geraldine Catto, and Charlene Spencer.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Shepherd; a son, James Mays, Jr.; and siblings: Robert, Donald, Glenn, Richard, Charles and Doyle Schwartzengraber, Betty Frees, Wanda Noia, Alice Horn and Carol Thrash.

Mary loved gardening, canning, watching basketball and collecting baseball cards with her grandson.  She also enjoyed listening to Elvis and eating Little Debbie Snack Cakes.

Graveside services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 27, 2023 at Monroe Cemetery, Continental with pastor Douglas Flynn officiating.
