Mary Evelyn Giesige
New Bavaria – Mary Evelyn Giesige, 90, of New Bavaria died 11:10 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 at The Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf. She was born September 4, 1921 in Miller City to the late Jerome and Annabelle (Miller) Steffan. On September 11, 1940, she married Clifford Giesige. He died January 9, 1995.
She is survived by three sons: Dennis (Pauline) Giesige of Defiance, Jim (Blanche) Giesige of Columbus Grove and John (Melanie) Giesige of Meadville, PA; 13 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Carol Giesige; a great-granddaughter: Tara Giesige; and 2 brothers: Elwood Steffan and a twin infant brother.
Mary worked at the former Tripplet in Holgate and was a homemaker. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria and its Altar Rosary Society and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She loved her grandchildren dearly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria with Fr. Stephen Stanbery and Fr. George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
