Mary Catharine Balbaugh
WEST LEIPSIC - Mary Catharine Balbaugh, 91, of West Leipsic died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa. She was born July 21, 1921 in West Leipsic to the late William and Ada O. (Bennett) Warner. On January 4, 1941, she married Robert F. Balbaugh and he died October 17, 2009. Surviving are 3 children: Robert W. (Janet) Balbaugh of West Leipsic, Gary R. (Ethel) Balbaugh of San Antonio, TX and Shirley A. (Larry) Pickering of Deshler; 8 grandchildren: Joanne (Ed) Ritter, Kathy (Frank) Beier, Cindy Balbaugh, Robby (Valerie) Balbaugh, Sarah (Dusty) Bush, Kevin Pickering, Brian (Chrystal) Pickering, and Tricia (Casey) Cox; 16 great-grandchildren: Justin Ritter, Ryan Ritter, Nick Beier, Zach Beier, Abby Beier, Hudson Bush, Leigh Ann Pickering, Nicole Pickering, Hope Pickering, Austin Pickering, Noah Pickering, Noah Pickering, Caden Pickering, Carsyn Pickering, Chelsea Perkey, Tori Cox, and Ali Cox; 1 great-great grandchild: L.J. Bowers; 1 brother: Warren (Mary) Dickey of Ottawa; 2 sisters: Marilyn Thornburg of Bryan and Bonnie Drew of Leipsic.  She was preceded in death also by 2 brothers:  William "Bud" Warner, Marion "Sonny" Dickey and 3 sisters: Dorothy Skinner, Doris Warner and Edna LouEllen Shoemaker.
Mary Catharine was a homemaker. She was a 1939 graduate of Leipsic High School and a former member of the West Leipsic United Methodist Church. She served on West Leipsic Village Council from 1979 to 1997 and helped plan the West Leipsic Sesquicentennial celebration in 2002 with her husband and they were chosen as King and Queen of the event. She also helped organize the Leipsic High School Alumni banquets for many years.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Bob Cochran officiating.  Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, West Leipsic. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Putnam County Hospice, Putnam Acres Care Center, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
