Mary Jane Leinsetter

OTTAWA - Mary Jane Leinsetter, 93, of Ottawa died at 8:57 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the Meadows of Ottawa.  She was born August 9, 1927 in New Cleveland to the late Bernard H. and Catherine (Laubenthal) Wischmeyer.  On August 28, 1948 she married Edward L. Leinsetter. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2002.

Mary Jane is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Griffith of Ottawa; two grandchildren: Erin (Matt Siefker) Griffith of Berkley, CA and Tyler Griffith of Columbus; and two sisters-in-law: Kathryn Wischmeyer of Ottawa and Ruth Niese of Leipsic.

She is also preceded in death by three children: Jeffrey Edward Leinsetter, Cheryl Lynn Leinsetter, and an infant son; sisters and brothers: Loretta (Paul) Ruhe, Mildred (Lawrence) Brickner, Kathryn (August) Stritt Nartker, Alfred Wischmeyer, Harold (Henrietta) Wischmeyer, James (Helen) Wischmeyer, Dolores (Walter) Recker, Norman Wischmeyer and Audrey (Anthony) Cavanaugh; a sister-in-law, Betty (Paul) Ellerbrock; and two brothers-in-law: John Nartker and Charles Niese.

Mary Jane worked for Edward J. Utendorf PA, Donald Hohenbrink CPA and the Ottawa City Tax office.  She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, its Altar Rosary Society and a Minister of Praise. Mary Jane was also a member of the Ottawa VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved cardinals, butterflies and pecan pie.  She enjoyed fishing and playing horseshoes at their camp site on the Maumee River.  Mary Jane loved playing Euchre, Pinochle, Yahtzee and putting puzzles together.  Her claim to fame was making popcorn balls for the Wischmeyer Christmas parties.

Funeral mass will begin 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2021 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Father Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  In keeping with social distancing guidelines, a visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a scripture service will begin at 4:50 p.m.  Mass will be live-streamed on the church's Facebook page. Masks will be required upon entering the funeral home and/or the church.

The family would like to thank the employees at The Meadows of Ottawa and the caregivers from Putnam County Hospice for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Mary Jane.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Capital Campaign, Putnam County Hospice or the Putnam County Council on Aging.
