Matilda V. Hohenbrink

KALIDA -- Matilda V. Hohenbrink, 102, of Kalida died 7:35 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Meadows of Kalida.  She was born February 11, 1915 in Kalida to the late Henry and Elizabeth (Kramer) Gerding.  On September 4, 1940 she married Sylvester Hohenbrink, who died July 31, 1988.

She is survived by 6 children:  Joyce Langmeyer of Payne, Judy (Gary) Gerdeman of Leipsic, Pat (Chuck) Haley of Findlay, Ken (Rita) Hohenbrink of Oak Ridge, TN, Dan Hohenbrink of Texas, and Kate Hohenbrink and Erwin Teuber; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her 5 brothers: Herbert Gerding, Clete Gerding, Richard Gerding, Raymond Gerding and Felix "Pete" Gerding; and 5 sisters:  Irene Gerding, Mary Selhorst, Rita Grote, Frances Fuerst and Eleanore Jerwers.

Matilda was a homemaker. She a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida and its Altar Rosary Society.  She loved to travel and sew and was an avid gardener.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Mark Hoying.  Burial to follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
