Maxine (Maag) Karl

GLANDORF – Maxine (Maag) Karl, 87, of Glandorf, passed away at 3:46 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at her residence. She was born April 10, 1937, in Glandorf to the late Leo H. and Lucy (Meyer) Maag.  On July 1, 1961, she married Joseph A. Karl, Jr., who preceded her in death on October 4, 2014.

She is survived by three children: Joe (Dot) Karl III, Jo Ann (Todd) Emmons, Dianna (Scott) Brinkman, all of Glandorf; a daughter-in-law, Susan Maas of Glandorf; ten grandchildren: Joshua and Jacob Karl, Noah Emmons, Allyson and Emma Brinkman and Robert, Jason, Jill, Zach and Dylan Maas; sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Jeannette (Bob) Busack of Ottawa; and a sister-in-law, Sally Maag.

She was preceded in death by her son, Terrance Maas; five brothers: Sylvester, Virgil, Elmer, Arnold, and Wilfred Maag; and three sisters: Alice Wiswasser, Edna and Amelia Maag.

Maxine had worked in housekeeping and laundry for Putnam Acres, Ottawa. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, and its Altar Rosary Society. She and Joseph had also worked for three years as the janitors for the church. Maxine loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Friday nights were always rosary nights for the family. Maxine also enjoyed watching western TV shows and crocheting.

The family would like to express a special thank you to her nurse, Brandi, for her great care of mom.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Matt Keller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday prior to the mass at the church.  Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
