Maynard A. Varner

Continental - Maynard A. Varner, 88, of Continental died 4:28 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at The Meadows of Ottawa.  He was born June 5, 1928 in Greensburg Township, Putnam County to the late Byran and Nellie (Taylor) Varner.

Maynard  is survived by many nieces and nephews.  He is also preceded in death by three brothers: Howard, Glenn and Bill Varner and four sisters: Marvel Gibson, Arnolda Miller, Opal Gyetvai and Ilda Fern Koenig.

He retired July 1, 1988 from the Campbell Soup  Company, had previously worked at Nickel Plate Railroad for eight years, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.

A funeral service will begin 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental, with Tim Worline officiating.  Burial will follow in Varner Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.

Memorial donations may be made to Putnam Co. Library or Putnam County Historical Society, Kalida.
