Sheriff Michael C. Chandler
FT. JENNINGS - Sheriff Michael C. Chandler, 56, of Ft. Jennings died at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born May 30, 1959 in Lima to Cliff and Clo (Rayle) Chandler who survive in Ft. Jennings. On August 28, 1982 he married Jane Korte who survives in Ft. Jennings.
Also surviving are two children: Aaron (Dana) Chandler of Ft. Wayne, IN and Stacie Chandler of Ft. Jennings; two brothers: Mitch (Tracie) Chandler of Cloverdale and Doug (Tina) Chandler of Ft. Jennings; and a sister: Suzy (Kenny) Decker of Pandora.
Prior to serving as Putnam County Sheriff, he was a corrections officer, dispatcher, road deputy, road sergeant, sergeant of detectives, and a member of the MANN Unit (multi-area narcotics task force). Michael loved being a cop and enjoyed his job, and especially loved spending time with his family and his dogs, Rudy and Ellie. He enjoyed trap shooting, fishing, hunting, and metal detecting. He was a member of Buckeye State Sheriff's Association, Putnam County Dive Team, and Pheasants Forever.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at First Assembly of God Church, 808 Metbliss Ave., Delphos, Ohio 45833. Pastor Fred Rowe will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ft. Jennings with rites by Putnam County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 12 to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. until departure for the funeral on Saturday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
