Mildred Lucille Sherry
VAN WERT – Mildred Lucille Sherry, 92, of Van Wert and formerly of Payne, passed to eternal life at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Van Wert Manor, Van Wert, OH. She was born September 9, 1920 in Michigan to the late Lee and Loma (Clear) Shaffer. On January 12, 1940, she married Eugene Sherry and he died May 15, 1976.
Surviving are 4 children: Carl (Terri) Sherry of Melrose, Jim (Peg) Sherry of Paulding, Shirley (Frank) Lichty of Van Wert and Sharon (Dan) Burnett of Wake Forest, NC; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother: Raymond Shaffer of Melrose and a sister: Violet Harmon of Oakwood. She was preceded in death also by a son: Richard Sherry, 2 grandsons: Douglas Sherry and Jeremy Lee and 2 brothers: Lloyd and Nolan Shaffer.
Mildred was a homemaker. She attended Payne United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful cook who also enjoyed her flowers, gardens and sewing. Many were blessed by her generous spirit.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Auglaize Chapel Church of God, Melrose with Rev. Stan Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Little Auglaize Cemetery, Melrose. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood and one hour prior to service Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
