Obituary

Nancy Kemp Kistler

GLANDORF- Nancy Kemp Kistler, 76, died Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Mercy Health St. Rita's in Lima.  She was born to Arthur and Janet (Bussard) Kemp on November 24, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio.  Nancy attended Fairview High School in Dayton and continued friendships with many classmates through social media.  She often spoke of her experiences of being a Scotchette for the high school.   After high school, she briefly attended Wright State University as an art major until she met the love of her life, Charlie Kistler, who she married on April 20, 1968.  After marriage, the couple moved to Florida where they had two daughters, Jenell (Lincoln) Bramlage of San Antonio, TX, and Jena (Eddie Browning) Shoults of Dublin, OH.  In 1979 the family returned to Ohio where they lived in the same house for 42 years.  A home that her loving husband, Charlie, built for her.

Nancy spent most of her years in the banking industry, starting at various banks in Dayton and Florida, and finally landing at The Ottawa Home & Savings in 1979.  She continued at that bank through mergers with The Ohio Bank and Sky Bank, and in 1999 made her move to vice president at First Federal Bank in Defiance.  She remained there until her retirement.

No one was a stranger to Nancy.  She started the Glandorf Ohio Block Watch Facebook group.  She was a part of a wine night neighborhood group for years.  She drove her golf cart around to socialize, and after she sold that, she drove her silver Terrain around.  She knew every horse, dog and goose in the county, loved them all, and tried to visit them daily.  She posted a coffee post every morning, and we know that many will miss starting their day with her "good morning, family and friends," post.  She was love, and light, and giving.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but we are glad to know she will not feel pain anymore.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Janet Kemp; her husband of 52 years, Charlie Kistler; two sisters, Sharon Jeffery and Robyn Kenyon; and many brothers and sisters-in law.  She is survived by her two daughters; four grandchildren – Mallory Bramlage (Cass Cook), Noah Bramlage, Logan Shoults, and Lauren Shoults; a brother-in-law, Harold Kistler; and sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Langhals and Philomena Kistler.

Nancy was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Glandorf and will be buried with her husband at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Ottawa.
