Nathaniel Ernest “Nate” Huff

CONTINENTAL - Born July 9, 1976

Nate passed peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2026, with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Nate was a devoted husband, proud father, skilled journeyman electrician, and deeply loved member of his family. A 1994 graduate of Continental High School, Nate built a respected career at General Motors in Defiance, Ohio, where he worked for 31 years before retiring on October 1, 2026. He was incredibly intelligent, hardworking, and gifted at figuring out just about anything.

On August 11, 2001, Nate married the love of his life, Tegan Tracy, on the 60th wedding anniversary of Tegan’s grandparents, Ralph and Erma Lehman Tracy. Nate and Tegan built a life grounded in love, family, and countless cherished memories.

Nate’s greatest accomplishment was his family. His life centered around Tegan and their two sons, Gavin and Gradyn, and nothing made him prouder than being their dad. He coached his boys in whatever sport they were playing until they reached junior high and treasured every opportunity to be involved in their lives. Nate was a sports fan through and through. Whether it was basketball, soccer, golf, baseball, or football, he loved watching it all. Some of his favorite moments were simply sitting down with his boys to watch a game or Jeopardy together. It was those everyday moments, just being together, that meant so much to him.

Nate loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Hunting was something he especially enjoyed sharing with Gavin, Gradyn, and his nephews. He loved teaching them his tips and tricks and passing along something he loved to the next generation.

Nate loved country life on Road E, where he and Tegan built their life together and raised Gavin and Gradyn. Road E became Nate’s happy place, and if he was home, chances are you could find him in his favorite recliner wearing his GM blues and an EdSled shirt, with Mamba and Memphis nearby and his family around him. That was Nate at his happiest.

Nate is fondly remembered by his wife, Tegan Tracy Huff; his sons, Gavin Huff and Gradyn Huff; his parents, Garland “Bambi” Huff and Susan (Homier) Berger; and his stepmother, Jennifer Huff.

He is also survived by his siblings, Nikki (Chuck) Wilhelm, Jesse (Amber) Huff, Trenton Berger, and Michelle (Devin) Lambert; his father-in-law, Michael (Joanie) Tracy; his mother-in-law, Tana (Steve Tucker) Tracy; and his sisters-in-law, Tara (Chris) Warnement, Jonelle (Rusty) Reinhart, and Denae (Cory) Prowant. Nate truly loved his in-laws. To him, they were never just “in-laws”—they were simply family, and he loved them as his own.

Nate will also be remembered by his nieces and nephews, Laurynn (Beau) Hahn, Logan Bunke, Leah (Jeremiah) Bunke, Wesley Huff, Wyatt Huff, Annalyse Lambert, Archer Lambert, Ava Lambert, Kiana (Sean) Ellerbrock, Ty (Lexi) Warnement, Reed (Kaylee) Warnement, Kolt Reinhart, Breece Prowant, and Breck Prowant; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Della Ruby Hahn, Dawson Warnement, Crew Warnement, Van Ellerbrock, and Baby Ellerbrock. His beloved dogs, Mamba and Memphis, were also cherished members of his family.

Nate was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Marie Huff; Cletus and Florence Homier; Ralph and Erma Tracy; and Robert and Rae McMichael.

Throughout his years at GM, Nate formed friendships that went far beyond the workplace. He shared countless laughs, stories, and inside jokes with the people he worked beside, and those friendships meant so much to him.

Nate touched more lives than he probably ever realized, but to Tegan, Gavin, and Gradyn, he was simply home. He was Tegan’s person. He was Gavin and Gradyn’s dad, coach, teacher, and hunting buddy. He worked hard to take care of the people he loved and made sure they knew just how deeply they were loved.

He will live on in the stories they tell, the laughter that comes with remembering him, the hunting trips, the memories made on Road E, the games and Jeopardy episodes watched together, and all of those ordinary little moments that now mean absolutely everything.

Nate’s family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone at St. Rita’s Cancer Center for the amazing care they gave Nate throughout his journey. They became very special to Nate and his family, and their kindness and dedication will never be forgotten.

A special thanks to everyone at Putnam County Home Care and Hospice for their extraordinary care, kindness, and compassion throughout Nate’s final days, and for helping keep him comfortable at home surrounded by the people he loved.

A private Celebration of Life will be held. Burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Hospice, CAP of Putnam County, or directly to Nate’s family.
