Norbert "Nub" Boecker
Ottoville - Norbert "Nub" Boecker, 70, of Ottoville passed away peacefully at 7:35 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his children and wife of 50 years of marriage.   Nub was born July 1, 1943 in Cloverdale to the late Henry and Ruth (Schmidt) Boecker.  On April 18, 1964, he married Jean Wehri who survives in Ottoville.
Nub is also survived by 3 sons: Keith (Carol) Boecker  and Rick (Holly) Boecker all of Ottoville and Nick (Deana) Boecker of Ottawa; a daughter: Jan (Terry) Warnecke of Ottoville; 12 grandchildren: Leanna (Zach) Horstman, Kayla Boecker, Brad Boecker, Todd Warnecke, Jenna Warnecke, Troy Warnecke, Chelsey Boecker, Evan Boecker, Billie Jo Bendele, Brennan Boecker, Brayden Boecker and Bailey Boecker;  2 great-grandchildren: Jace Horstman and Kennedy Horstman;  7 brothers: Dennis "Doc" (Diane) Boecker of South Carolina, Karl (Linda) Boecker and Duane (Bonnie) Boecker all of Ottoville, Marvin Boecker of Cloverdale, Paul (Laurie) Boecker of Ottoville, George (Terri) Boecker of Cloverdale, Alan (Tammy) Boecker of Continental and 2 sisters: Marilyn (Don) Dunbar of Ottoville and Maureen (Pete) Kennerk of Hicksville.  He is also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law: Maurice and Donna Boecker and a sister: Marleen Boecker.
Nub retired from General Motors, where he worked as a millwright and served as chairman of the United Auto Workers Local #211. He was also a lifelong farmer. After retirement, he worked part time for S.I. Distributing.   He was a graduate of Ottoville High School. Nub was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville.   He enjoyed cutting firewood, playing cards, spending time with his grandkids and his kids and watching Cincinnati Reds and Wheel of Fortune.  He enjoyed sending humorous post cards to grandchildren when he was out of town.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, with Fr. Jerome Schetter officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville.  Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Twp.
Memorials may be given to Putnam Co. Hospice.
