Norbert L. Steffan
Ottawa - Norbert L. Steffan, 92, of Ottawa formerly of Leipsic, died 8:35 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2015 at The Meadows of Leipsic. He was born April 26, 1922 in Leipsic to the late Frank and Cecilia (Schroeder) Steffan. On June 17, 1948, he married Rita Winnow who survives in Ottawa.
Norbert is also survived by 3 children: Kenneth Steffan of Big Pine Key, FL, Nancy Steffan of Springville, UT and Greg (Karen) Steffan of Delaware, OH . He is also preceded in death by a twin brother, Robert Steffan and two sisters: Florence "Bede" Klausing and Dorothy Morman.
Norbert was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic and its Holy Name Society and formerly on church council. He was a life member of Ottawa VFW. He loved playing golf at Pike Run. He was a WWII Army Air Force veteran, where he was a mechanic for B52 Flying Fortress and an instructor and mechanic for P47.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with The Very Reverend George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa VFW, American Legion, and AMVETS. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic, where there will be a rosary service at 7 p.m. and a VFW service at 7:30 p.m. and then from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
