Norma A. Meyer
Ottawa - Norma A. Meyer, 81, of Ottawa, died 9:40 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at her residence. She was born November 16, 1932 in Lima to the late Sylvester and Hilda (Schumaker) Schroeder. On September 13, 1952, she married Daniel Meyer who survives in Ottawa.
Norma is also survived by 2 sons: Dean (Charlotte) Meyer and Mike (Pat) Meyer both of Ottawa; a daughter: Jill (Tom) Bullinger of Ft. Jennings; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; 2 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren; a brother: Howard (Jeannie) Schroeder of Columbus Grove and a sister Virginia (Don) Holtkamp of Kalida. She is preceded in death by a brother: Mark Schroeder.
Norma was a homemaker. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and its Altar Rosary Society; Catholic Ladies of Columbia; Minister of Praise; Eucharistic Minister and a Mass server. She was a servant of God and servant of others. Norma was also president of Best Grandchildren's Club. A member of CRHP class three.
She held her faith, never gave up her hope, and always gave her love; to anyone who needed the brightness of her soul to illuminate their way through a trial, she held out her hand and gave everything that she could.
She inspired us with her strength and stubborn committment to doing the unexpected and exceptional. She never felt entitled, but rather gave unselfishly and fully for the benefit of her friends, her family, and even strangers, without any expectation that she would get anything back. She was an angel to more people than she would ever realize.
It is impossible to completely describe her in a simple post. Even a novel couldn't contain the breadth of her will and spirit.
So beautiful, so vibrant, so forgiving and unassuming...she gave life as her method of deriving the most out of it, and left a legacy of always striving...always determined to move onward an upward, and as eternal as the God she loved, her memory lives strong in the minds of those who loved and were loved by her.
There was class, and then there was Chaco.
I miss you. We miss you. We'll never forget you.
