Norma Jean Ruen

CONTINENTAL – Norma Jean Ruen, 88, of Continental, passed away at 9:50 p.m., Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Brookview Healthcare Center Nursing Home, Defiance.  She was born May 6, 1934, to the late John and Elizabeth (Bowsher) Steel. On August 5, 1978, she married Norbert Henry Ruen, who survives in Defiance.

Other survivors include three children: Gary (Mary) Brown of Holgate, Dennis (Penny) Brown of Florida and Deb (John) Seely of Pioneer; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; and two sisters: Dorthy Goodwin and Pat Brown.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Johnny Steel and Jim Steel; one sister, Betty Spangler; two sisters-in-law: Mary Steel and Nancy Steel; and three brothers-in-law: Virgil Goodwin, Bob Spangler and Basil Brown.

Norma retired from Zeller Corporation.  She was a member of the Continental American Legion Auxiliary.  She loved playing cards, taking her grandkids to play bingo and camping at Nettles Lake in Pioneer.

A funeral service for Norma will begin 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2022 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Rev. Terry Porter officiating.  Burial will be at a later date.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
