Norman Joseph Doepker, Jr.

OTTAWA - Norman Joseph Doepker, Jr. 85, of Ottawa died at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at his residence. He was born July 31, 1930 in Ottawa to the late Norman Joseph and Matilda (Nartker) Doepker, Sr. On June 18, 1960 he married Lois Laudick who survives in Ottawa.

Also surviving are eight children: Mary Ellen (Todd) Quatro of Monroe, MI, John (Maria) Doepker of Kettering, Beth (Barry) von der Embse of Kalida, Karen (Dave) Brucker of Springfield, Susan (Joe) Kuhlman of Ottawa, Kathy (Keith) Wischmeyer of Lake Orion, MI, Scot (Frédérique) Doepker of Washington Township, and Anne (Chris) Ryan of Gahanna; twenty-seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters: Patricia Macke of Ottawa, Ruth (Donald) Tesmond of Chicago, Marilyn Weber of Ottawa, and Molly Weisgerber of Columbus; a brother-in-law: Richard (Jeanette) Laudick, Jr. of Ottawa; and two sisters-in-law: Anita Swary and Joan Doepker both of Ottawa. He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Donald, William, and Thomas Doepker.

Norm was a 1948 graduate of Sts.  Peter and Paul High School. He was a retired department manager for Sears, Lima. Norm was a lifelong and very active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa where he was on the Parish Council and School Endowment Committee. He was a member of the Ottawa Knights of Columbus and was the treasurer and a volunteer at the Ottawa Food Pantry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2016 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a scripture service at 7:50 p.m. Memorials may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul School.
