Obituary

Norman V. Meyer OTTAWA – Norman V. Meyer, 83, of Ottawa, passed away at 9:06 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2025 at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. He was born September 8, 1941 in Putnam County to the late Alfred and Frances (Niese) Meyer. On May 28, 1966, he married Janet T. Tiell, who survives in Ottawa. Other survivors include four children: Jean (David) Swary of New Bavaria, David (Heather) Meyer of Bluffton, Dennis (Cheri) Meyer of Gilboa and Larry (Vanessa) Meyer of Maumee; seven grandchildren: Anthony, Hannah, Noah, Emily, Aryel, Bailey and Gena; five great-grandchildren: Iyla, Elliott, Ryker, J.J. and Willow; six siblings: Marie (John) Hoorman, Alice Maas, Frank Meyer, Elmer (Sharon) Meyer, John Meyer and Bill (Kate) Meyer; and three sisters-in-law: Carol Meyer, Pat Meyer and Sharon Meyer. He was also preceded in death by four siblings: Richard Meyer, Robert Meyer, Tom Meyer and Jim (Rita) Meyer; a brother-in-law, Dave Maas; and a sister-in-law, Joan Meyer. Norman retired from General Dynamics, Lima and was also a truck driver for Verhoff Machine and Welding, Continental. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and past member of the Ottawa K of C. Norman enjoyed fishing, sharpening chainsaw chains, tinkering in the garage and was always willing to help others. He loved mowing the lawns and gardening. Family was everything to him. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bavaria. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour prior on Wednesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Southern Missions, 6050 Highway 161, Walls, Mississippi 38686 or a charity of the donor's choice.
