Norman P. "Norm" Schimmoeller
FT. JENNINGS – Norm Schimmoeller, 94, of Ft. Jennings, Ohio, died at 8:00 p.m. on September 13, 2025, at the Meadows of Kalida, surrounded by his loving family.
Norm was born in Ft. Jennings, to the late Lawrence and Ida Louise (Kaverman) Schimmoeller. On June 25, 1955 he married Margaret "Mickie" M. Becker and she survives in Ft. Jennings. Norm and Mickie recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. He was a Korean Conflict veteran serving in the US Army. Upon returning from his service, he worked as a machinist with Warner Swasey in Lima for 43 years. During his retirement he took up woodworking and made funeral crosses for St Joseph Catholic Church of Ft. Jennings and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Ottoville. Norm was a member of St Joseph's Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings, was a life member of Ft. Jennings American Legion Post #715, and Ottoville VFW.
He is survived by his 3 children: Lawrence "Larry" (Jan) Schimmoeller of Ft. Jennings, Dale (Joyce) Schimmoeller of Findlay, and Ann (Ray) Kaverman of Delphos; siblings: Jacob "Jack" (Marianne) Schimmoeller, Louis (Eileen) Schimmoeller, Betty (Orville) Neidert, all of Ft. Jennings, sister in law: Margaret Schimmoeller of Glandorf, 10 grandchildren: Kristie (Stewart) Lengerich, Michelle (Troy) Buss, Angela (David) Birkemeier, Heather (Brent) Bockrath, Larry (Kimberly) Schimmoeller, Greg Schimmoeller, Derek (Jen) Kaverman, Scott Schimmoeller, Matthew (Jenna) Schimmoeller, and Jessica (TJ) Stennett; 15 great grandchildren: Ermerson, Adalyn, Zoey, Brecklen, Lyvia, Shae, Everly, Noella, Isabelle, Camryn, Thomas, Brysen, Theodore, Brylee and Caroline.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Jim (Margaret) Schimmoeller, Alice (Clete) Vetter, Richard (Regina) Schimmoeller, and Kenneth Schimmoeller.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings with Father Charles Obinwa officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military rites by Ft. Jennings American Legion and Ottoville VFW. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township, and one hour prior to services at the church.
