Omer V. Recker
Ottawa -- Omer V. Recker, 90, of Ottawa died 11:15 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Meadows of Ottawa. He was born August 24, 1924 in Glandorf to the late Charles H. and Magdalena Ann (Verhoff) Recker. On June 9, 1948 he married Marcella M. Rosengarten, who preceded him in death on September 19, 2001.
Omer is survived by his children: Patricia Ann Wareham of St. Petersburg, FL, Marvin H. (Agnes) Recker and Larry J. (Diana) Recker, both of Ottawa; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a brother Norbert L. Recker of Kalida.
He is preceded in death by 2 sons: Joseph and Randal Recker; a sister: Martha M. Recker; 2 brothers: Albert and Leander Recker; and a grandson.
Omer was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and its Men's Society. He was a WWII Army Veteran where he was a Military Policeman in the Pacific Theater. Omer retired in 1994 from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where he was a custodian and had also worked at Glandorf Feed Co. He was a life member of the American Legion post #63 and the VFW post #9142, both of Ottawa; and also a life member of the Ottawa K of C Council #1757.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with Father Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa VFW, American Legion and DAV. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a scripture service will be held at 1:45 pm, a VFW service at 7 p.m. and a Parish Rosary at 7:30p.m. Tuesday evening.
Memorial contributions may be given to Putnam County Home Care and Hospice or to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
