Opal V. Coleman
Continental – Opal V. Coleman, 83 of Continental died at 5:08 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.  She was born June 17, 1929 in Buchanan, VA to the late Sherd and Vernie (McGlothin) Baldridge. On April 25, 1944 she married Howard L. Coleman, Sr. He died December 23, 2003.
She is survived by six children: Howard (Marilyn) Coleman, Jr. of Continental, Bob (Wanda) Coleman of Dupont, Ron (Shelly) Coleman of Cleveland, TN, Teresa (Larry) Jones of Continental, Wanda (Ron) Winkle of Continental, and Brenda (Bill) Thedford of Spring City, TN; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister: Lillian Griffith of Defiance; and a brother: Elmer Baldridge of Defiance. She was also preceded in death by a son: Douglas Coleman.
Opal was a devoted homemaker who loved gardening, quilting, and reading. She attended the Dupont Church of the Brethren.
A Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Rev. Terry Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Putnam County Home Health or to Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
