Patricia Matijevich

OTTAWA – Patricia Matijevich, 89, of Ottawa, passed away at 12:54 a.m., Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at her residence.  She was born September 24, 1933, in Dupont, to the late George Clinton and Marian Frances (Parsons) Fawcett.  On January 13, 1950, she married Anthony Donald Matijevich, Jr., who preceded her in death on September 21, 2009.

Patricia is survived by three children: Deb (Gordon) Tatlow of Ottawa, Lori (Larry) Higley of Leipsic and Mark (Shelly) Matijevich of Glandorf; six grandchildren: Stacy (Roy) Klass, Ryan Beckman, Nick (Jen) Beckman, Kristen Basa, Lyndsey (Rob) Pittman and Taylor (Sofia) Matijevich; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda Vaught of Galveston, TX; two sisters-in-law: Shirley Sanderson of La Marque, TX and Catherine Fickessen of Galveston, TX; a niece, a nephew, several great-nieces and nephews and many cousins; and her beloved fur baby, Phoebe.

She is also preceded in death by a son, Anthony Donald Matijevich III; a great-granddaughter; and three brothers-in-law: Wayne Vaught, Robert Sanderson, Sr. and Boyd Fickessen.

Patricia was a retired registered nurse and co-owner of Matijevich Floor Covering with her husband, Anthony. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and Ottawa Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed playing bridge and participated in several card clubs. She also enjoyed the arts and all that life had to offer. Patricia loved to garden and plan parties and gatherings for friends and family.

The family would like to thank the staff of Putnam County Homecare and Hospice and Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center for their great care and help with mom.

Funeral Mass will begin 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 7, 2023 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Tim McFarland officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date at Harman Cemetery, Gilboa. Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday and 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, National Hemophilia Foundation or Putnam County Homecare and Hospice.
